HP Z32 monitor multimonitor setup, one of monitors will not turn on when turning PC on. Nvidia card with 4 display port connectors.

Have to unplug monitor, wait 30 seconds for capacitor to discharge, plug back in, and then monitor will be recognized.

Posting this to help someone else.

I swapped cables, tried an extra Z32 monitor, updated video card drivers, nothing worked.

Same thing happened with a spare Z32 monitor, so not a monitor problem.

Solution was to hook monitors up to PC with USB cable.....USB A port on PC to USB C port on monitors.

Voila, both monitors recognized consistently. You can do this using a single USB port on the PC, going to a USB hub, and plugging USB cables into the hub.

I speculate that video card recognizing monitors can be flaky, but USB connectors on motherboard are much more reliable.

Summary: connect monitors to the PC using a USB cable even if you have monitor using HDMI or display port.
