Welcome to our HP Community forum!
If your HP ProBook 440 G7 screen is still flickering after software updates and settings adjustments, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check for Hardware Issues:
Perform a BIOS Display Test
Turn off your laptop.
Press F2 repeatedly while turning it on to enter HP Diagnostics.
Select Component Tests > Video Test and check for flickering.
If the flickering occurs here, it’s likely a hardware issue (loose display cable or faulty panel).
Connect an External Monitor
Plug your laptop into an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
If the flickering only happens on the laptop screen, the issue is likely with the internal display or cable.
If the external display also flickers, the problem may be GPU-related.
2. Adjust Display & Graphics Settings:
Disable Hardware Acceleration
Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings
Toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling OFF (if available).
Change the Refresh Rate
Go to Settings > Display > Advanced Display Settings.
Under Refresh Rate, try selecting 60Hz (or a different available rate).
3. Check the Display Cable (For Hardware Experts Only) :
If you’re comfortable opening the laptop, a loose display cable inside might be the cause. If the issue started after a drop or physical movement, consider checking the display cable connection.
4. Last Resort – Consider Screen or GPU Replacement:
If none of the above steps work, the screen itself may be faulty, or there could be an issue with the integrated GPU. You'll likely need professional repair or replacement.
Let me know if any of these steps help!
Kind Regards,
