Monitor HPx2301
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Suddenly my monitor switched from 1920x1080 60 Hz to 1024x768 60 Hz without reason and I cannot switch it back.

When switching on the monitor it flashes up with a box stating "current 1024x768 60 Hz" and recommended "1920x1080 Hz".

But the list of display settings from which to select does not include 1920x1080.

Using HP Support I've checked that I have the up to date driver software for the monitor.

I have been using Windows 10 Home 64 bit for several months.

Please can anybody help.

Update...I've managed to fix the problem in Device Manager, by uninstalling the Intel (R) HD Graphics driver (which had not been working properly and had shown error code 43) and then scanning for software changes (which automatically loaded a newer driver which seems to have fixed the problem).

Hi there @JennyRose,

May the Forums be with you! I understand that your system is no longer offering 1920x1080 resolution for your display.  I am happy to help with this.

If you know approximately when the change occurred, you can try do a  System Restore to a restore point from before the resolution options changed. HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10, 😎  Then if that works, make a note of any updates that occur so you can prevent the one that caused the issue.  Another choice would be to again install both the Monitor driver, and then the driver for your graphics adapter.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi Malygris1
