I have a MacBook Pro MacOS 14+, I am using an Anker docking station.  I want to, via the docking station, connect a single USB-C to the laptop and 1) have access to peripherals in the docking station; 2) access to peripherals connected via the monitor; 3) display to the monitor.

Currently, I have an HDMI cable from docking station to the monitor.

I have a USB-C to the docking station from the laptop.

When I turn on my computer, no signal comes to the HP monitor.  I have to fiddle with the controller, manually set the Input to HDMI, and then *hope* it gets signal.  Sometimes I have to open the laptop top, sometimes nothing comes back, and sometime a display signal does eventually show up.

I would like it to just work: I turn on my laptop that's connected, and display comes through the HP monitor.

How do I do this?
