Hi @sapna7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the keyboard issue you are experiencing. Let us proceed with clear and recommended steps to address the keys not working on your laptop.

Please follow these actions carefully:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Power off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if it is removable.
  3. Hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn the laptop back on.

Step 2: Use HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  1. Open the HP App on your laptop.
  2. Select Diagnose & Fix from the main menu.
  3. Allow the tool to scan for hardware issues, including the keyboard.
  4. Follow the on‑screen instructions to apply any recommended fixes.

Step 3: Check Keyboard Settings in Windows

  1. Go to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Typing.
  2. Ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected.
  3. Test the keys again after confirming the settings.

Step 4: Update Drivers via HP Support

  1. Visit the official HP support page: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  2. Enter your exact laptop model.
  3. Download and install the latest keyboard and chipset drivers.

Step 5: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Press the Power button, then immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Select Component Tests > Keyboard Test.
  5. Follow the instructions to check each key’s functionality.

These steps are designed to identify and resolve the keyboard issue using HP’s official tools and resources. If the problem persists after completing them, please share the exact laptop model and operating system version so that we can provide further tailored guidance.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
