I'm having a problem with the touchscreen. I'm getting ghost touches/circles....which I found to bea popular problem when I was doing my research. I have disabled my touchscreen for now, but is there a solution to this problem? I would like to use my touch screen it is one of the main reasons I bought this model.

Does the issue persist on the BIOS page?

 

Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.

 

Try updating the touchscreen drivers and BIOS and touchscreen firmware on the PC to the latest version and check if it helps.

 

Update the drivers using HP support assistant.

 

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

 

Also, Please try few steps recommended below.

 

In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device.
If the option to enable the device is included in the menu, click Enable.


Reinstall the original touchscreen device driver that came installed on your computer using the following steps:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device and select Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstallation.
Restart the computer to reinstall the touchscreen driver.

I have the same problem but uninstalling the touchscreen driver and restarting my HP Spectre 15 (i7-8705g) didn't fix it. Can you tell me how to manually update my touchscreen firmware? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

 

I've tried updating the touchscreen driver, and my BIOS (and all other drivers) is up to date.

Have you tried installing the drivers using the HP Support Assistant?

 

Try running a diagnostic on the Touchscreen to confirm the Hardware Functionality

 

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. 
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Touchscreen
