HP 20wd LED Backlit monitor
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have a HP 20wd Backlit monitor. It has been showing horizontal lines from past two years. I neglected it initially as only one or two lines were visible, but now about 10 lines are displayed at the top of my monitor. I tried changing power cable and VGA cable, but they were not causing the fault. I also tried updating my display drivers, but no use. Can someone help me in solving this problem?

Hi @Kushal_365,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Horizontal lines on a monitor can be caused by various factors, including hardware issues, software settings, or connectivity problems. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with your HP 20wd LED Backlit Monitor.

  • Check the connections: Ensure that the video cable (usually HDMI or VGA) is securely connected to both the monitor and the computer's graphics card. If possible, try using a different cable to rule out any cable-related issues.
  • Update graphics drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause display problems. Visit the official website of your graphics card manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific graphics card model.
  • Adjust monitor settings: On the monitor itself, check the on-screen display (OSD) settings. Look for options related to image quality, sharpness, or display modes. Try adjusting these settings to see if it resolves the issue. Additionally, ensure that the monitor is set to its native resolution.
  • Test on a different computer: Connect the monitor to a different computer and observe if the horizontal lines persist. If the issue persists on multiple computers, it suggests a problem with the monitor itself.
  • Check for physical damage: Inspect the monitor for any physical damage, such as cracks or broken parts. If you notice any, it might indicate a hardware issue that requires professional repair or replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
