How to add additional display port to Hp Compaq 8200 elite sff

HP Recommended
Hp Compaq 8200 elite sff
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi Guys,

I would like to add a secondary monitor to my Hp Compaq 8200 elite sff.

Unfortunately, I have only 1 VGA port and a serial port...

Could anyone help me on adding an additional display port (VGA or HDMI) to my Hp Compaq 8200 elite sff?

I assume I would need to replace the graphic card?

Let me know if you need additional info.

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

The AMD Radeon HD 6350 low profile graphics card which was optional for your model allows you to connect two monitors with either VGA or DVI inputs.

If your monitor has HDMI ports, you can buy a DVI to HDMI cable.

You should be able to find them in used but tested and working condition on eBay.

You will also need the splitter cable that goes from the card to the monitor cables.

This is the DVI splitter cable you need...DVI is better because it provides digital resolution.

If you prefer the older VGA type analog video, then you would buy this splitter cable...

Thank you Paul for your answer!

The goal is to "extend" my screens...

IE: I'm looking to have spreadsheet A on monitor 1 and spreadsheet B on monitor 2.

Will this work?

You're very welcome.

Yes, that setup will do that for you.

As a matter of fact, I gave that very same card away to my son, who uses it on two displays to extend the desktop or to use separate screens (for example, internet on one monitor, and something else on the other one.

I have ordered the card. Do I need anything in regards to installation?

Thanks again 🙂

You're very welcome.

Before you install the video card, go to the device manager.

Click to expand the display adapters device manager category.

Right click on the Intel graphics adapter listed there.

Select Uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.

Shut down, unplug the PC and install your new video card.

As far as for actually installing the card...

Below is the link to the service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03612798

The card will go in the black slot shown in chapter 4 on page 49, shown in the top left quarter of the picture.

There is an identically shaped and sized slot that is white.

You can find the installation procedure in chapter 8 starting on page 172.

Chapter 8, page 177 will again show you what slot the video card goes in...item # 19.

After you install the card, you can install the W7 video card driver from the link below.

Select the W7 x64 driver, install and restart the PC.

Hi Paul,

I finally got to it today 🙂

I uninstalled the driver, shut down the PC, installed the new card in the PC and restarted it.

I have a VGA cable connected to screen A and an HDMI cable connected to screen B through a DVI to HDMI slitter...

Now i don't see anything displayed on my screen...  (both screen are powered but don't display anything...)

What did i do incorrectly and what should i do to correct this issue?

Hi:

Did you buy an AMD Radeon HD 6350?

You would also have needed the DMS-59 splitter cable that goes from the card to the cables.

I don't know how you can have a VGA cable connected to one and the DVI cable connected to the other, since the DMS-59 splitter cable is either dual VGA or dual DVI.

to connect to screen B...
