Please what's the best way to fix my touch pad on my HP Spectre x360. It doesn't work. Most times I have to use an external mouse. I have tried to update drive, and enable it from the settings menu. It still doesn't work.

Hi @Irukanma,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your touchpad on the HP Spectre x360 isn't working despite updating drivers and enabling it in the settings, here are some additional steps you can try:
1. Check Touchpad Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Make sure the touchpad is enabled and adjust the sensitivity settings.
2. Update Touchpad Drivers
- Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad device (it might be listed as "Synaptics," "ELAN," or similar) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
3. Reinstall Touchpad Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click on the touchpad device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the touchpad drivers.
4. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any that are available.
5. BIOS and Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop model.
- Download and install any available BIOS or firmware updates.
6. Reset Touchpad Settings
- Some touchpads have dedicated software (like Synaptics or ELAN) that might have its own settings or control panel.
- Open this software and look for options to reset or reconfigure the touchpad.
7. Check for Physical Issues
- Ensure there’s no debris or damage around the touchpad.
- Sometimes, pressing down lightly around the edges of the touchpad can resolve issues if it’s not seated correctly.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut down your laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices and power sources.
- Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Restart your laptop and check if the touchpad works.
9. Check for Conflicting Software
- Boot into Safe Mode and check if the touchpad works. If it does, there might be a software conflict in normal mode.
