USB-C adapters generally require that the system (HP, MAC, elc) support video
For example
Some USB-C to HDMI such as the HP USB-C to HDMI 2.0 adapter have firmware upgrades to fix compatibility problems
What system are the monitors connected to:?
If the USB-C port does not support video then you will need an adapter that has a driver such as this one
