Pavillion 590 Tower

I am getting "No signal" in trying to connect an HP S2031 monitor to an HP Pavilion 590 tower PC. The computer comes with Windows 10. I can't make any changes since I can't see any options on the Monitor, because the Menu won't come on, but it does say that the resolution should be 1600 x 900.  I did put the drivers disc in the computer hoping it could be located. I also restarted both the computer and Monitor. I have also attached the monitor through an HP HDMI to VGA adapter cord.
