Hi @Kayla_moebius1.,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the Mouse or Touchpad Settings:
Mouse:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse.
- Ensure that the primary button is set correctly (usually left).
- Adjust the double-click speed if necessary.
Touchpad:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Enable or adjust the touchpad sensitivity and other settings.
Restart Windows Explorer:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find and select Windows Explorer in the list, then click on Restart.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all drivers, especially the touchpad or mouse drivers, are up-to-date.
- Go to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click your pointing device and select Update driver.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for and install any pending updates.
Drag-and-Drop Registry Fix:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
- Delete the "DragHeight" and "DragWidth" entries.
- Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
Disable Tablet Mode:
- Go to Settings > System > Tablet.
- Make sure the device is set to non-tablet mode if you are using it as a desktop replacement.
Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Security or your preferred antivirus software to ensure there are no malicious programs affecting system performance.
Software Conflicts:
- Ensure there are no third-party applications conflicting with the drag-and-drop functionality.
- Run Windows in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
