Hi @aquadan11

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re trying to use the HDMI port on your HP All-in-One PC, but when you plug in the cable, nothing happens. The issue could be related to the HDMI input or output settings. Let’s go over the steps to troubleshoot and make sure everything is set up correctly.

Steps to Troubleshoot HDMI Not Working on HP All-in-One PC:

Confirm the Type of HDMI Port

  • HDMI Input vs. HDMI Output: Some HP All-in-One PCs come with an HDMI output port (for connecting to external monitors, TVs, or projectors), while others may have an HDMI input port (for connecting a device, such as a console or a TV tuner).
  • Check the Manual: Confirm whether the HDMI port on your All-in-One PC is meant for input or output. Typically, an HDMI input would be used for connecting another device (like a TV or media player) to the PC's screen, whereas an HDMI output would send the signal from your PC to an external monitor or TV.

Check the Display Source/Input Settings (For HDMI Input)

  • If the HDMI port is input, you may need to switch the display source or input mode to show the content coming from the connected device.
  • Steps:
    • Press the "Source" or "Input" button on your HP All-in-One’s screen or use the on-screen menu (if applicable).
    • Check if there’s a setting for HDMI input. Select the corresponding HDMI input to display the connected device’s output (e.g., from a TV tuner, console, or other HDMI device).

Check the Cable and Device

  • Ensure that the HDMI cable is properly connected and functioning. Try the cable with another device (e.g., TV, another monitor) to verify it works.
  • Also, check the device you're connecting to the PC via HDMI. Ensure it's powered on and working properly.

Check for Display Mode Settings

  • If you're using the HDMI output to send your screen to an external monitor or TV, make sure that your PC is set to extend or duplicate the display.
  • Steps to adjust display settings:
    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
    • Under the Multiple Displays section, ensure that the external display (if using output) is detected. You may need to select Extend or Duplicate displays.
    • If it doesn’t show the external device, click Detect.

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause issues with HDMI connectivity.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
