i have a pavilion 20 and we have used it for a long time, the other day I went to use it like normal and we always keep it on, and the screen was black and moving the mouse around wouldn’t get it to turn on, and so I turned it off and turned it back on and the light ok the side will turn white like it’s turning on but

the screen stays on black, is there anything I can do? My personal pc has 2 monitors, is it possible to plug it in so that I can use it for a bit? we are gonna get a new one soon so I’m more concerned on just being able to use it for the time being

Hi @Andyslumped,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have trouble where the Pc not booting to Windows and has a black screen. As you have 2 monitors, I request you to just plug the pc only to 1 monitor and check if you can see the display or not.

While checking this, please try a BIOS Restore on the pc and let me know if this helps to get the screen back.

BIOS Restore :
1) Shut down the computer, keep the  charger plugged
2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
