HP Envy 34

I have an HP Envy 34 All-in-One and want to use the monitor to extend my HP Dragonfly screen. There are no HDMI ports, however before purchasing I checked with HP support that this should be possible, however I have had no joy doing this. Given I have two very new HP devices this is very frustrating.

Hi @Ben_JW,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration, and I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue. Here are some steps you can follow to try and extend your HP Dragonfly screen using the HP Envy 34 All-in-One.

  • Check the Cable Connection: Ensure that you are using the correct cable to connect your HP Dragonfly to the HP Envy 34 All-in-One. It's important to use the right cable for your devices. For example, if your HP Dragonfly has a USB-C port, use a USB-C to USB-C cable.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure that the graphics drivers on both devices are up to date. Visit the official HP website for each product and download the latest graphics drivers.
  • Check Compatibility: Confirm that both your HP Dragonfly and HP Envy 34 All-in-One support the feature of extending the display. Some devices may have limitations, and it's essential to ensure compatibility.
  • Use Correct Ports: If there are no HDMI ports, make sure you are using the appropriate ports on both devices. For example, if both devices have USB-C ports that support video output, use a USB-C to USB-C cable.
  • Adjust Display Settings: On your HP Dragonfly, go to the display settings and check if the HP Envy 34 All-in-One is recognized. You can adjust the display mode to extend the desktop.
  • Try Different Cable/Adapter: If possible, try using a different cable or adapter to rule out any issues with the current cable. Sometimes, faulty cables or adapters can cause connection problems.
  • Check Graphics Settings: In your computer's graphics settings, ensure that it is set to extend the display rather than duplicate or show only on one screen.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart both your HP Dragonfly and HP Envy 34 All-in-One and see if the issue persists.

Remember that the success of extending the display depends on the capabilities of your devices and the compatibility of the connection method you are using.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
