Same problem as person from Baku:  Floating message atop a perfectly functioning display! How to get rid of it?  Switched from Windows 7 on old HP laptop, worked fine for years,  to Windows 10, new HP laptop, problem as mentioned.

Hello, @asilverman - Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out! I'm here to help 🙂

I understand that you are getting " Input not supported" message on your HP monitor. Please try the steps here to try and fix the issue: HP Flat Panel LCD Monitors - Monitor is Blank | HP® Support

If the issue persists, try to update the display drivers as suggested below:

    • Select the Start  button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.

    • Expand one of the categories to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver. For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Update Driver.

    • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

    • If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

  • If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

As a last resort, also try to reset the monitor. Follow the steps in Page 14 here: User Guide (hp.com)

Let me know if that helps!

Good luck 🙂

Thanks for being helpful, Dvortek ... unfortunately, nothing you suggested has worked.

I numbered each of your suggestions, 1 to 4, to give better feedback:

1 and 4: not only do they not offer anything useful, but they do not include any reference to Windows 10.  Windows 8  and 7, yes.  W10, not at all.

2 and 3: While these also did not remove the floater, the good news is that after downloading the latest driver, in each case the identification on Device Manager went from Monitor/Generic PnP Monitor to Monitor/HP x20LED ... at least it got the product reasonably  correct. However, the driver installed was dated 11/14/2012, ver 1.0.0.1, 5 years ago ... which raises the question, in the context of your other sites mentioning nothing about W10, whether there is a driver for this monitor that is at all current, for W10.   Specifically, is there a current driver, one that will work with W10?

However, since the monitor display is perfect except for the superimposed floating error message,  is there any way to simply suppress the floater?  Fool the device?

Is it possible there is a compatibility problem with the adapter I got to mate the HDMI port on the Envy 360 with the VGA connection to the x20LED monitor?

Hi,

as @Dvortex is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.

I truly appreciate your efforts.

This monitor does not need any additional drivers to work with Win10. Secondly, you may try to change the adapter and check if that helps.

The steps provided earlier by @Dvortex to update the graphics card drivers are standard for Win7 to Win10.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

I just ordered HP adapter  H4F02UT, so if that works, all is fine.  If not, I will surely let you know.

Grrrr. I received today the HP part, H4F0UT#ABA-AO, HDMI 1.3 to VGA adapter cable, to connect my W10 Envy to my HP monitor.  The floating error box is still there. Since this is an HP part connecting two other HP parts, what is wrong?

In your absence an associate of yours, "MKAZI" responded.  i ordered an adapter for HDMI to VGA from HP (H4F02UT), and it has not solved the problem, any more than your original suggestions solved the problem.  I responded to MKAZI, but have had no reply from him. so I am reaching back to you as the original contact point.  Why does not an HP adapter function to connect a W10 HP computer with a HP monitor?  Why am I still getting the sinusoidally floating error message box, "Input not support" (sic)?  Can you explain, and help me resolve this annoying error, without having to junk my otherwise perfectly good HP monitor and spend a few hundred $$ on another monitor?
