Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have selected the option to display only on the 2nd screen that is the HP screen along with my laptop and then I changed the resolution to a non recommended one. Now when I connect the hdmi cable to the laptop it acts like a second screen and the hp monitor shows input signal out of range and change the resolution to 1600*900. Now that I cannot operate the monitor, how do I set the resolution to 1600*900?

Boot into safe mode as explained at "Enter Safe Mode from outside Windows"

HP PCs - Windows Safe Mode (Windows 10) | HP® Support

Press F5 at the startup.

Run the display program and set the resolution to something will will always work like 800x600 or 640x480 then reboot in normal mode.

Run MSCONFIG to get back into normal startup
