Hi @Idk_4

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Got it! Thanks for clarifying that you're using a PC and not a laptop. Since the monitor's back white light is on but the screen remains black, it seems like the monitor is receiving power but isn't displaying anything. This could point to several possible issues, ranging from hardware to settings. Let’s walk through some targeted troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the Input Source

  • Incorrect Input Source: It’s possible the monitor is set to the wrong input source (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.). Most monitors have a button to cycle through input sources or an on-screen display (OSD) menu to select the correct input.
    • Try pressing the Input or Source button on the monitor (usually located on the side or bottom of the bezel). Make sure it's set to the correct input that your PC is connected to (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.).

2. Test with a Different Cable or Port

  • Swap the Cable: If you haven't already, try using a different HDMI or DisplayPort cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Try a Different Port: If your PC has multiple video outputs (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA), try switching to a different port on both the PC and the monitor.
  • Test with Another PC or Device: If possible, connect the monitor to another device (such as a laptop or another PC) to see if it works. This can help determine if the issue is with the monitor or your PC.

3. Check the PC Graphics Settings

  • External Monitor Settings: If your PC has multiple display outputs (e.g., integrated GPU and discrete GPU), ensure that the output is directed to the correct GPU or that the PC is outputting to the correct monitor.
    • You can try using the Windows + P shortcut to cycle through display modes (e.g., Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only). Try selecting Second screen only to see if it triggers the monitor to display.
  • Graphics Driver Issues: If you recently updated or changed any software, it could have affected the display settings. Ensure your graphics driver is up-to-date and working properly.
    • To update drivers, go to Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click your GPU, and select Update Driver. Alternatively, visit the GPU manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to get the latest drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
