My friend, I did some more research, and I believe that this single slot (which is exactly what you need given the little space available in your case for a GPU) and low-profile RTX 3050 is claimed to be able to run on a 180-watt power supply, quote: "Yes, according to a product review, this graphics card can be used with a 180-watt power supply": Amazon.com: Yeston GeForce RTX 3050 6GB GDDR6 LP(Equipped with a Half Height Shifter) Graphics Cards....

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
In order to power a low-power, low-profile RTX 3050, you'll need at least a 250-watt power supply. Your PC comes with a 180-watt power supply. The HP ProDesk 400 G5 SFF specs does not reference any power supply upgrade options.
Even electrically compatible 250-watt and 400-watt power supplies will not physically fit inside your case:
The stock 180-watt PSU (p/n: L07658-001 / L08404-002) used in the ProDesk 400 G5 SFF is a slim SFF unit:
Approx. dimensions: ~17 cm (L) × 9.5 cm (W) × 8 cm (H)
Very narrow, with a small exhaust fan opening.
Designed to fit snugly in the G5 SFF chassis cutout.
Now looking at the 250-watt unit (p/n: L08417-002) for example:
That one comes from a different HP SFF line (typically ProDesk 600 G3/G4, EliteDesk 800 G3/G4 SFF).
Its casing is noticeably wider, closer to ~15 cm (L) × 15 cm (W) × 8 cm (H).
The side profile shows a squarer face plate and larger fan grill compared with the long, slim design of the 180-watt.
This means 250/400-watt PSUs won’t fit mechanically in your HP 400 G5 SFF chassis. The cutout on the back panel of the 400 G5 is too narrow -the PSU faceplate and screw positions don’t match either.
Bottomline: unless you get creative -like a number of HP ProDesk 400 G5 SFF Users show, an RTX 3050 may fit inside your case, but will likely be either underpowered or will not power up at all.
