Hi, the integrated webcam of my new monitor only provides very low quality, grainy videos. Nothing worked so far. HP plans to send me a new monitor, but I assume it's a software issue or the webcam in this type of display is just bad and it won't change with a new display. I expected high quality video, but even my old Logitech webcam provides significantly better quality in exactly the same situation (light, position, etc.). Is that to be expected or is there some way to fix it?

Hi @maxhb,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding webcam quality on the HP Series 7 740pm Display!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Update Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest drivers for your HP monitor and webcam. Check the HP Support website for driver updates specific to your model.
Adjust Webcam Settings:
- Use the camera settings software or application to adjust resolution, exposure, and brightness settings. Sometimes default settings can cause suboptimal video quality.
Check Lighting Conditions:
- Adequate lighting can dramatically affect webcam quality. Although you mentioned similar conditions, experimenting with better lighting might reduce graininess.
Software Compatibility:
- Ensure that the webcam software is compatible with your operating system and any conferencing applications you use. Check if any software updates improve performance.
Test with Different Applications:
- Test the webcam with various video conferencing platforms like Skype, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams to see if the performance differs.
Laptop Performance:
- Low system performance can sometimes result in reduced camera quality. Ensure your computer meets the performance requirements for high-resolution video streaming.
Physical Inspection:
- Inspect the webcam lens for smudges or dirt that can blur and reduce image quality.
I hope this helps.

Thank you very much for you support, @Kuroi_Kenshi.
I followed all these steps. Unfortunately, none of them solved the problem. Therefore, there is probably some other issue I cannot identify myself. I'll try with the new display on Tuesday unless someone comes up with a better idea 🙂
