Hi @DBASM,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your monitor is flickering and the display has gone out, it can be due to various issues, ranging from hardware problems to software conflicts. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
**1. Check Physical Connections
- Ensure that all cables connecting the monitor to the computer (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA) are securely plugged in and not damaged.
- If possible, try using a different cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Make sure the monitor is plugged into a working power source and that the power cable is secure.
- If your monitor and computer have multiple ports, try connecting the monitor to a different port.
**2. Perform Basic Monitor Checks
- Power off both the monitor and the computer. Wait for a few seconds, then turn them back on.
- Use the monitor’s on-screen menu to check if any settings might be causing the issue (e.g., refresh rate settings).
**3. Check Display Settings on Your Computer
- On Windows, right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Ensure that the resolution and refresh rate settings are appropriate for your monitor.
- Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. Update your graphics drivers through Device Manager or the graphics card Hp website.
- If you have multiple monitors connected, make sure the display settings are correctly configured to detect and use all monitors.
**4. Perform Hardware Diagnostics
- Connect your computer to a different monitor to see if the issue persists. If the new monitor works fine, the problem may be with the original monitor.
- Connect your monitor to a different computer to determine if the issue is with the monitor itself or the original computer.
**5. Check for Hardware Issues
- Look for any visible damage on the monitor or its ports.
- Ensure that the monitor is not overheating. Overheating can sometimes cause flickering or display issues.
- Some monitors have a factory reset option in their on-screen menu. Try performing a factory reset to restore default settings.
**6. Update or Reinstall Monitor Drivers
- Go to Device Manager on Windows, find your monitor under Monitors, right-click, and select Update driver.
- If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the monitor driver and then reinstalling it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
