Monitor and Sound issues - PC seems to lose settings frequently

I have an HP OmniDesk PC with windows 11 connected to a Samsung Smart TV monitor and extended to a Samsung Smart TV. When I first set it up it worked fine. Then the next time I started it up or every 6th time, it won't start the monitor, and also it will lose the sound settings for the smart tv monitor speakers as well as the smart tv sound. It usually lets me select which one I want. but seems to lose the settings. I have to go through a lot of messing with settlings to get it to recognize them again. 

To get the monitor to work after it doesn't turn on automatically I have to turn on the smart tv and then the smart tv monitor will turn on and show my desktop. Not sure what is going on.

Check default display setup in Windows

Go to Settings > System > Display.

Confirm the Samsung monitor is set as the Main Display and that the layout is correct so Windows loads it first on startup.

Disable automatic display detection

Open the NVIDIA/Intel/AMD control panel (whichever your PC uses).

Look for options like “Auto-detect display” or “Dynamic display switching” and turn them off so the PC stops re-assigning displays at startup.

Set a fixed audio output device

Go to Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings.

Click the Samsung audio device and select Set as Default Device and Default Communication Device so Windows doesn’t switch outputs automatically.

Disable Windows Fast Startup

Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.

Turn off Fast Startup — this prevents Windows from loading incomplete device profiles during boot.

Check HDMI/ARC/CEC behavior on the Samsung TV

On the Samsung TV: Settings > General > External Device Manager.

Disable Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) to prevent the TV from controlling when the PC monitor wakes up.

Try a different HDMI port or cable

Use a certified high-speed HDMI cable and plug it directly into a primary HDMI port on the monitor.

Some ports behave differently during boot and may not wake immediately.

Update graphics and audio drivers

Install the latest GPU drivers from Intel/AMD/NVIDIA.

Update the Samsung monitor firmware if available to improve handshake stability.
