HP 27es
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I own one HP 25-inch monitor (2511x) connected with HDMI.

I am looking at adding the HP 27es and noticed the product description reads:

2 HDMI ports sends video and audio to a second display so you can supersize your entertainment or multitask like a boss.

What that seems to say is that I can:

- use an HDMI cable on my laptop and connect it to the 27es

- then use another HDMI cable to link the 27es to the 2511x

- and thereby have a two-monitor setup without needing a dock

Is that correct? Will the 27es allow me to run two monitors with only one HDMI cable plugged in to my laptop?

Note that I want to use the extended, not mirrored, connection.

And question 2: will the same work with my Chromebook? Chromebooks support multiple monitors.

Thank you.

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you have an HP 27es 27-inch Display monitor. I read that the monitor has two HDMI ports at the rear end and you would like to know if you could perform extended display by connecting another monitor to the second HDMI port of the HP 27es monitor. I'll certainly guide you with this.

I did some research and found that the two HDMI ports are HDMI in only. These HDMI ports do not provide video signals to another monitor if connected. You may possibly connect two video inputs to the HDMI ports. Like two computers - one each to the HDMI Port.

An Xbox can also be connected to one of the HDMI ports and the other HDMI port can be used for a connecting a computer.

Please find the detailed user guide for this laptop here.

I hope this information helps. Keep me posted for anymore questions. Cheers! 🙂

That does answer my question. Thank you.

The description on the bestbuy.ca Web site (which seems to come from HP, although I don't know that for sure) is misleading.

Thank you again.
