hi
thx @banhien
"HP monitor E233, i have connected using a HDMI into my All in one desktop - to Displayport in the monitor. "
in this case you probably have a problem with the adapter, which does not good one !
I don't know if this would be ok for you, but see this, it might help you
[edit]
you confirm it is this or not, because it says (1) HDMI 1.4, why not use hdmi only?

Hello
if you have an hdmi out port, you can use a screen with hdmi input!
the options via usb, are quite random, often it does not work

So you already have the screen.
it is necessary to give more precision otherwise ...
exact model of the computer and screen, type of cable used (if you know)
To find it follow this

I checked the monitor and this works on an alternative computer.
I was advised to check the HDMI port was working. I was told to look in Device manager - Display adapters and check that the HDMI is listed. The only thing listed is the Graphics card.
Does this mean that there is a fault with the HDMI?

i don't know who told you this, but i don't see where you can find hdmi in device manager ..
All one can possibly have is intel high definition audio, something like that, which is the audio driver, if connected in hdmi
But does that not answer the questions?
