Hello Hp community, my camera is not working and i have tried everything.

I was trying to turn on my camera for my Zoom class when i got this error message.

Broken camera Screenshot.png

When i pressed get help and did all the steps, it still didn't help. so when i contacted someone from Microsoft to help, he opened the device manager found out that the camera driver was gone. I don't know how this happened because I've used my camera before. Then he went to the HP website to download a new on, but it wasn't there.

There was nothing else he could do so he suggested that i contact HP next, so that's what I'm doing. So can you please help me out. Thank you

@QuentB, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Thanks for sharing the details and the screenshot. The error message:

"0xA00F4244 "

indicates that Windows cannot detect any camera device, which usually means the camera driver is missing, corrupted, or the camera is disabled in BIOS or Device Manager.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this issue on your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000:

Check Device Manager for Camera

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Look under Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. If you don’t see any camera listed, click View > Show hidden devices.
  4. If the camera appears with a yellow triangle or is missing, proceed to the next steps.

Install or Update Camera Driver

HP may not list a separate camera driver because most HP laptops use the Windows UVC (USB Video Class) driver. But you can try the following:

Option A: Use HP Support Assistant

  1. Download and install HP Support Assistant. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Open it and go to My Devices > Updates.
  3. Let it scan and install any available drivers, especially for the camera or chipset.

Option B: Use Windows Update

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. Install any optional updates under View optional updates > Driver updates.

Enable Camera in BIOS

Sometimes the camera is disabled at the firmware level:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure Integrated Camera is enabled.
  4. Save and exit.

Reinstall Camera via Device Manager

  1. In Device Manager, right-click and uninstall any existing camera device.
  2. Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the default driver automatically.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

None of the things you suggested worked not even the one where you have to press ESC while resetting. And my device manager doesn't have any sort of a camera drive. Are there any more solutions you can think of?
