My HP desktop screen goes black for a few seconds every time a video advertisement pops up when I'm on the internet.  It's very annoying, is there a way to correct this and stop the ads from disrupting me?

Well, for the third-party videos and ads, I am afraid, there is nothing to stop. However, make sure you have an anti-virus installed to protect from any malware while browsing. 

Also, check if the cables are connected properly and not loose. 

Also. check if the BIOS, windows update, and graphic drivers are up to date. Click here
