Hi @Duchess66,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your monitor!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Power Connections:

  • Ensure that the power cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the power outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet to see if the issue persists.

Inspect Video Connections:

  • Verify that the video cable (HDMI, VGA, DVI) is securely connected to both the monitor and the computer.
  • Try using a different video cable or port to rule out cable issues.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Go to your computer’s power settings and make sure that the display is not set to turn off automatically after a short period.
  • For Windows: Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options, and check your settings.

Check Monitor Settings:

  • Use the on-screen display (OSD) menu on the monitor to check brightness, contrast, and other settings.
  • Restore factory settings through the OSD menu.

Temperature and Ventilation:

  • Ensure the monitor is in a well-ventilated area and not overheating. Overheating can cause temporary outages.
  • Avoid placing the monitor near heat sources.

Update Graphics Driver:

  • Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause display issues.
  • Update the graphics driver from the manufacturer’s website or through Device Manager:
    • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
    • Find Display adapters, right-click on your graphics card, and select Update driver.

Test with Another Computer:

  • Try connecting the monitor to a different computer. If it works fine, the issue may be with your original computer.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Inspect the monitor and computer for any visible damage.
  • If internal components are damaged, it may require service or replacement.

Hardware Diagnostic Tools

  • HP provides diagnostic tools to identify hardware issues.
    • Restart your computer and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
    • Select F2 to open System Diagnostics and run the Component Tests for the graphics/display.

I hope this helps.
