OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000i (392G5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My desktop computer does not recognize my Samsung monitor; in either case, I can turn on my computer, but there is no screen function. I replaced the HDMI cord, and still nothing. I know Samsung works because I can view films on my Fire TV Stick. It is just that the computer is not showing up anymore, and when I ask the source, it says I need to connect HDMI, which is connected.

Hi @brownehart,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Let's walk through some troubleshooting steps to help get your display back up and running. You've already done great by testing the HDMI cable and confirming the monitor works with your Fire TV Stick, that helps narrow things down!

Here are some steps to try:

Double-Check Cable Connections

Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both your OMEN desktop and your Samsung monitor.

Try plugging the HDMI into a different HDMI port on your monitor, if available.

If your OMEN has both a dedicated graphics card and motherboard HDMI port, make sure you're plugging into the graphics card port, not the motherboard.

Power Cycle the Devices

Turn off your OMEN desktop and monitor.

Unplug both devices from power for 30 seconds.

Plug everything back in, power on the monitor first, then the PC.

Try a Different Display Output (if available)

If your OMEN has DisplayPort or USB-C video out, try connecting with those using a compatible cable or adapter.

This helps confirm if the issue is specific to HDMI.

Boot into BIOS or Safe Mode

Power on your computer and immediately start pressing ESC or F10 repeatedly to access BIOS.

If you see the BIOS screen, it's likely a graphics driver or display resolution issue.

If no BIOS screen appears, try connecting to another monitor or TV, just to check if the issue is with the PC's output.

I hope this helps.
