I’ve been trying to get my hp pavilion 22bw monitor to connect to my HP ENVY h8-1534 Desktop PC, but I’ve had no luck even though it is connected with an hdmi cable and has a power source. I bought both from a sale because the owner didn’t need them, I don’t think it’s the pc since it can turn on just fine and everything seems to work with it, the buttons on the monitor also either don’t seem to do anything when it is checking for a signal or just send it into an osd lockout.

@Adns448, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Monitor Connectivity Issues!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It appears you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion 22bw monitor not detecting the HDMI or DVI connection when connected to your HP ENVY h8-1534 Desktop PC. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Verify Connections:
- Ensure that the HDMI or DVI cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the PC.
- Check whether the HDMI or DVI port on both the monitor and the PC is clean and free of debris.
- If available, test with a different HDMI or DVI cable to rule out a faulty cable.
Check Monitor Input Source:
- Use the monitor's buttons or on-screen display (OSD) menu to ensure that it is set to the correct input source (HDMI or DVI).
Restart and Power Cycle:
- Turn off both the monitor and the PC.
- Disconnect the power cables for both devices.
- Wait for a few minutes, then reconnect the power cables and turn on the PC and monitor again.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Ensure that the graphics drivers on your HP ENVY h8-1534 Desktop PC are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website or directly from the graphics card manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD).
Test Alternative Display Settings:
- If your PC has multiple video outputs (e.g., another HDMI, DVI, or VGA port), try connecting the monitor to a different port.
- Connect the monitor to another PC or device to test if it displays a signal. This can help determine if the issue is with the monitor itself.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Some PCs might have specific settings in BIOS/UEFI related to integrated and dedicated graphics outputs. Check these settings to ensure HDMI/DVI ports are enabled.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
