I have two hp 27es monitors , one has been inactive and before that barely used , the power cord indicator light is on next to where the cord plugs in , but I get no display . Switched the monitor but left the wires hooked up to the two different computers , same working monitor still works with the other computer . Tried holding down power button for 10 seconds , still no display . Poked a toothpick into power lock hole on the back but it doesn’t seem to be a button inside . Is there some other reset or power lock button reset that I am missing ? Monitor has not been damaged just sitting there next to the other one…

Hi @Woodstephen69,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with your HP 27es monitor. It can be so frustrating when a device that’s barely been used stops functioning properly. Let’s see if we can figure out what’s going on and get your monitor back to working condition.
- Have you tried using a different video cable (HDMI, VGA) to rule out a cable issue?
- Does the monitor display anything (like the HP logo or a "No Signal" message) when powered on without being connected to a computer?
- Is the non-working monitor recognized by your computer in the display settings or device manager?
Meanwhile, try the steps below.
Check the Monitor Input Source:
- Press the Menu button on the monitor (usually located on the bottom edge).
- Navigate to the Input Source setting and ensure it matches the connection type (e.g., HDMI or VGA) of the cable you're using.
Test with a Known Working Cable and Port:
- Swap the video cable with one that works on the other monitor.
- Connect the non-working monitor to the same computer and port that works with the other monitor. This ensures the issue isn’t with the cable or computer port.
Perform a Power Cycle:
- Disconnect the monitor from power completely and unplug all cables.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the monitor and try turning it on again.
Inspect for Display Activity:
- Disconnect the monitor from the computer but keep it powered on.
- Check if the monitor displays any message like "No Signal." If not, this could indicate an internal hardware issue with the monitor.
Try a Factory Reset:
- Use the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu to perform a factory reset.
- Press the Menu button, navigate to the settings menu, and look for an option labeled Factory Reset or Reset All Settings.
You may also refer to this document for more information.
If the monitor still doesn’t display anything after these steps, the issue might involve an internal hardware fault such as a failing backlight or mainboard.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
