No explanation, but desktop is suddenly, totall covered with icons, folders, files, photos--all representing items in my files. I cannot remove them and return to normal desktop display. Ran Norton, including power eraser, tried restoring to several earlier versions...nothing clears the desktop.  Otherwise, everything seems to be functioning normally.

@marckuhn Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

As I understand the desktop is covered with icons, files, documents, etc...and you are not able to remove them,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Is this like a widget or actual files and folders on your desktop screen?

Have you attempted to delete them, after selecting all using the Ctrl+A keys?

Could you share a screenshot of the desktop, so we can understand it better and help you accordingly?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

If you don't want to see any desktop icons, right-click an open area of the desktop, select View, then make sure Show desktop icons is un-selected.
