The Envy Move do not display the video coming from it's own motherboard.
No doubt about the screen, and the HDMI switch, cause when the button is pressed. the OSD toggle from the Windows logo and HDMI.
No cable connected but the supply (battery > 70 % according to OSD).
if a HDMI source is plugged-in (e;g. Laptop) the signal is displayed.
I didn't find any post or trouble shooting dedicated to this all-in-one. All basic found everywhere are not applicable until the window input stays with "no input" status.
to trouble shoot, the Envy move has been connected to an HP usb-c dock (only screen and keyboard). No more sign of boot.
Please suggest.
Thanks you everyone by adavance

Hi @tarzouille
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for laying out the issue so clearly—and I’m really sorry your HP Envy Move isn’t displaying video from its own motherboard.
That’s definitely frustrating, especially when the HDMI input works fine but the internal system stays stuck on “no input.”
Here’s a structured approach to help troubleshoot this:
🧩 What Might Be Happening
- Display Source Confusion: The OSD toggling between Windows and HDMI confirms the screen is functional, but the system may not be booting or sending a signal from its internal graphics.
- BIOS or Firmware Glitch: A recent update or power event could have caused the system to misroute video output or fail to initialize the internal display.
- Hardware Boot Failure: If connecting to a USB-C dock results in no boot signs, the system may be stuck in a low-power or failed POST state.
🛠️ Steps to Try
Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect all cables and peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect only the power supply and try powering on again.
Try BIOS Recovery
- Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see the BIOS recovery screen.
Boot Without Dock or HDMI
- Disconnect the USB-C dock and HDMI cable.
- Power on the system with only the battery and internal components active.
- This ensures the system isn’t trying to route video externally.
Check for POST Indicators
- Listen for fan noise, keyboard backlight, or any LED activity.
- If there’s no sign of boot, the system may need service.
You’ve done a great job narrowing things down, and I know how discouraging it is when basic troubleshooting doesn’t apply. Let’s get your Envy Move moving again 💪.

thanks Hawsks_eye,
Perform a Hard Reset done -> no improvement
BIOS Recovery done -> not sure BIOS was recovered, no improvement. Pretty sure BT, USB or dock keyboard is not detected. Many tries with many different keyboards.
Boot Without Dock or HDMI done -> no improvement
POST Indicators -> time to time a low treble sound can be heard (fan ? not sure). Both LED are ok.
Hardware Boot Failure or BIOS or Firmware Glitch: are the privileged clues.
thanks for support.

You are very Welcome!
Thanks for the detailed follow-up—it really helps narrow things down.
Based on everything you've tried, it does sound like your HP Envy Move is stuck in a firmware-level boot failure or graphics initialization issue, especially since the HDMI input works but the internal system never sends a signal.
Here’s a deeper dive into what you can try next:
🧠 Step 1: Try a Forced CMOS Reset
Some HP AIOs have a hidden reset pinhole or CMOS battery access:
- Disconnect all power and peripherals.
- Look for a small pinhole labeled CMOS or Reset near the ports or under the stand.
- Use a paperclip to press and hold for 10–15 seconds.
- If accessible, remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes, then reinstall.
This can clear corrupted firmware settings that block boot.
🔄 Step 2: Attempt Recovery via USB
If BIOS recovery didn’t trigger:
- On another PC, download the BIOS update for your Envy Move from HP’s support page.
- Use HP BIOS Update Utility to create a recovery USB.
- Insert the USB into the Envy Move.
- Press and hold Windows + V (instead of B), then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Windows + V until you hear beeps or see activity.
Sometimes this alternate key combo works better for newer models.
🧪 Step 3: Check for Internal Display Routing
If the system is booting but not routing video:
- Try connecting an external monitor via USB-C or HDMI-out (if available).
- If you see output there, the internal display may be disabled or misrouted.
- You can also try blind keystrokes to enter BIOS:
- Power on and wait 10 seconds.
- Press F10 repeatedly.
- Then press F9 (Load Defaults), Enter, then F10 (Save & Exit), Enter.
🧰 Step 4: Service-Level Reset
If none of the above works, HP service may need to:
- Reflash the BIOS manually.
- Replace the motherboard or embedded controller.
- Inspect the display switch logic (some models have a physical toggle that can fail).
You’ve done a stellar job isolating the issue so far. If you’d like, I can help you prep a service request or walk through the BIOS recovery USB setup. Let’s get this Envy Move moving again!
Thanks,
