Hi @SGhosal94,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with display scaling when connecting your HP Spectre x360 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop to your LG 29-inch ultrawide monitor. Here's how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Ensure that the resolution for your external monitor is set correctly to 2560x1440. Sometimes, setting it to a non-native resolution can cause stretching.
Scaling Settings:
- In the Display settings menu, check the scaling settings. If scaling is set too high or too low, it can distort the display. For a 2560x1440 resolution, try setting the scaling to 100% or 125% and see if it improves the display.
Update Drivers:
- Make sure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. You can update them through the Device Manager or by visiting the HP support website and downloading the latest drivers for your laptop’s GPU.
Monitor Settings:
- Access the on-screen display settings of your LG monitor (usually accessible via buttons on the monitor) and check if there are any aspect ratio or scaling settings that might need adjustment.
Cable and Port Check:
- Ensure that you’re using a high-quality cable and that it's securely connected. If you’re using an adapter, try using a different one or connecting directly if possible.
Reset Display Settings:
- Sometimes, resetting the display settings on both the laptop and the monitor to default can resolve issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
