So my PC was working just fine, and then I did a factory reset, and when I went to turn it back on, it turns on but on my monitor it’s just a black screen with no messages or nothing. I’ve tried different HDMI cords and a different monitor. My keyboard/mouse that are connected to the desktop are also not turning on. Please help me fix this issue.

@Senadmurgic, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your PC powers on but only shows a black screen, especially after a factory reset. Let's walk through some steps to help you get your system back up and running.

Power Reset the Desktop

This clears any residual power and can resolve many startup issues.

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord and try turning it on again.

Try a Basic Hardware Reset

Remove unnecessary peripherals and reset internal components:

  1. Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  2. Open the case (if you're comfortable doing so).
  3. Reseat the RAM modules and graphics card (if present).
  4. Ensure all internal cables are securely connected.

If you're unsure how to do this, refer to your PC’s maintenance guide or seek help from a technician.

Clear the CMOS (BIOS Reset)

This resets BIOS settings to default and can fix boot issues.

  1. Unplug the PC and open the case.
  2. Locate the CMOS battery (a coin-cell battery on the motherboard).
  3. Remove it for about 5 minutes, then reinsert it.
  4. Close the case and power on the PC.

Try Booting with Minimal Configuration

If you have two RAM sticks, try booting with only one at a time. Also, try removing the graphics card (if any) and use the integrated graphics port (HDMI/VGA on the motherboard).

If none of the above steps work, the issue may be with the motherboard, power supply, or BIOS corruption. In that case, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
