HP Compaq dx2200 PC

Hey,

I have recently bought a HP Compaq dx2200 (Faulty) and i have been doing some testing on it to get it to work.

The pc turns on (Light is on mothorboard, fans turn on but run very loud, hdd spinning etc) but i get a blank screen on the monitor.

The monitor is working.

The HDD is working.

To test the mobo, i removed both rams and turned it on and i did hear beeping noises so the mobo acknowledges changes etc.

DVD is also functioning.

Power cable is also working and tested.

Only issue is the blank screen.

Both fans run at max throttle (Have removed each one at a time to see if this changes anything but still max throttle for each of the one which was plugged in).

All wires have been pushed in and checked one by one to make sure they are seated properly.

I have reset CMOS too but no luck there.

From what i gather it comes down to the power supply or the video card where the issue may be.

So wanted to ask here and see if anybody else had any suggestions to try or any more information on this sort of issue.

Thank you

First - that is really old, so not a surprise it does not work.  With the fans running fast, it probably is a motherboard problem or BIOS.

Most likely not the power supply but a graphics card could be the problem.  If there is one present, remove it and connect the monitor to the onboard graphics instead.  Does it now POST?

Thanks for the reply!

Just double checked the mobo and its the built in graphics instead of a graphics card.

If it is indeed the mobo then is there any recommendations for one i can replace it with?

Many thanks,

Ulor

Great.  Report back with what you found and if this replacement motherboard solves the problem.
