This display has been problematic since I purchased. Not playing well with MacBook. First would only (very) intermittently carry signal via HDMI connected to thunderbolt port. I ordered a thunderbolt to display port adapter and that initially worked much of the time though it would revert to 90/100 brightness and dynamic color turned on (for a more psychedelic experience!).
Now the monitor is almost entirely black - I can see the faintest of outlines of content on the screen and it still shows in Mac System Preferences as connected.
I waited for 5+ weeks for this monitor to be delivered in September. VERY disappointing and now completely useless. I should have heeded the online advice not to even try to use with MacOS. Any advice? Do I need to try another cable set-up?

I reviewed your post and I understand that the monitor is not working with your Mac computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
HP monitors are not supported in a Mac environment. However, newer Macs use graphics with VESA modes and can display to most HP LCD monitors. To do this, connect the monitor to the Mac while the Mac is off, and then turn on the MAC. The monitor should operate at 60Hz. The INF and software for the HP monitor are for Microsoft Windows and cannot be run in a standard MAC OS environment.
I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
