Elite 8300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

Simple question.

Have had a Compaq Elite 8300 desktop for some time, no problems.

Have just bought a new and larger screen. 32" and QHD.

HP documetation shows max resolution (single screen) of 2560 x 1440 and 2560 x 1600

with the Intel HD graphics, which I have.

Using the DisplayPort output. (8300 doesnt have HDMI)

New screen works fine, but the Win10 display panel shows a max option of 1920 by 1080.

Nothing higher.

Same story when looking at the driver.

Why cant I get the higher res option?

And what do I have to do?

Thanks in advance.

Jonathan.

Is your Intel HD graphics driver up to date?

Thanks KR,

Intel HD Driver checked and up to date (Nov 2019).

All Windows updates are current.

This PC uses Intel Q77 Express chipset:

I cannot find exact details re: graphics capabilities, but just came across this spec for another MoBo:

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/desktop/dq77mk/dq77mk_techpro...

On page 19 it says:

1.3.1Graphics Subsystem

(..)
1.3.1.1Processor Graphics

(...)
1.3.1.1.1Intel® High Definition (Intel® HD) Graphics

The Intel HD graphics controller features the following:

(...)
Video
High-Definition content at up to 1080p resolution

So that's probably the maximum resolution that's supported by this chipset I'm afraid.
