I have a brand new HP laptop and after only three months the screen began blinking red-green-blue-white.... I found I could connect a tv externally using the HDMI and the external screen appeared just fine but the built in screen continued to flash.
After trying several different things to fix it (software, drivers, reinstall, reboot, safe boot, etc...) , we finally called HP and sent it away for repair.
SPECS: HP LAPTOP 15
Windows 10 64 bit
i7 Intel Core 855OU CPU
The HP technician erroneously reported it was a Windows 10 corrupted OS issue - considering it worked just fine porting out to an HDMI device he was obviously an idiot in error. After only a couple of weeks - it began again (surprise). The problem is intermittent, and I can still use an external monitor through the HDMI.
I have tried reinstalling the OS, performing a repair, reinstalling ALL of the software (this makes number 3), updating the BIOS and starting in safe mode. To no avail.
I will try to send it again, but I am really tired of wasting my time uninstalling and reinstalling software and being unable to use a laptop I paid a lot for.
Is this a systemic problem with the HP laptops and is there a real, legitimate fix that will guarantee it will work or do I keep having to go through interim failed repairs?
