Hey everyone, does anyone know how to adjust the screen resolution on my laptop? It shows that my laptop supports 1920 x 1080. However, when I run the screen resolution test, it shows up as 1680 x 928. What does that mean, and has anyone experienced that before? If so, what steps did you take to fix it?

@Maria082, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Adjusting Screen Resolution!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here's a step-by-step approach you can try:

Adjusting Screen Resolution

Access Screen Resolution Settings: Position the mouse cursor anywhere on your Windows desktop, right-click, and select Screen Resolution or Display Settings if you are using Windows 10 or newer.

Select Your Monitor: In the Display drop-down menu, select the monitor connected to your laptop or the display you want to adjust.

Change Screen Resolution: You will see an option to change the resolution. Select 1920 x 1080 (or your desired supported resolution) from the list.

Apply Changes: Once you have selected the preferred resolution, click Apply or OK to make the changes.

Confirm Your Changes: You might be asked to confirm the changes. If the display is satisfactory, select Keep Changes.

Troubleshooting Steps

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated graphics drivers might prevent you from using the optimal resolution. You can update the drivers via HP Support Assistant or Windows Device Manager.

Check Display Cable: If you’re using an external monitor, ensure that the cable used is properly connected and supports the desired resolution.

Graphics Adapter Settings: If using a USB graphics adapter, make sure that the adapter supports the resolution you are trying to achieve. You can also check for updates on HP’s support site.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
