elitebook x360 1030 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi There,

I have had my eleitbook x360 G2 for a couple of years now, and have never really had any issues with it. However recently (like since the Windows 10 March update and related HP driver updates), my laptop now has a permamnt problem. It is (and always has been) configured to go into sleep when I close the lid. However 95% of the time now, when I close the lid it does not go into sleep mode (the power LED stays on, rather than the slow "sleep" blink). This can hapepn even if I have made sure that I have clsoed all running app e.g. office, IE etc). When the laptop fails to enter sleep, I open the lid again to see if I can find out what the problem is, but the screen will not come back on. The keyboard lights up, and I can press keys until the keyboard buffer is full, and it starts "binging", but the screen will never come back on, and the only way to recover is to force a shutdown by  holding the power button in. If the laptop does happen to go into sleep (vary rare!), then when I open the lid, the screen comes back on normally.

I would love to be able to fix this new fault, because (apart from it being very annoying in the wasted time, and the fact that I can't just stop work, and close the lid to save power and put the laptop in my bag to go to a meeting etc. etc.), but if I don't notice that it hasn't gone into sleep mode and then put it into my bag, it seriously overheats.

Any advice would begratefully recieved.

Hi
Try

Windows Logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
(This key sequence actually restarts you graphics driver (W10 only).)

Hi Lil_Boy_Blue,

Many thanks for your help and suggestion. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. When my laptop next got stuck "not sleeping" but with the screen off, I tried the suggested key combo. All that happned was that I got a windows "bonk" sound, and nothing else, the screen stayed off. The keyboard lights came on to indicate that the keyboard was registering ket presses, and if I tried other keys e.g. space bar etc, I just got the windows "bing" sound.

Any other ideas would be grately appreciated.
