HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-xa0014
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Pavillion all in one and have had an HP32F as a second monitor for the past 3 years. I went to do some homework and the second monitor says HDMI ports are inactive. I swapped HDMI cords and tested the current HDMI cord on another device and they work great. I tested the HP32F (second monitor) on my XBOX and it works with no issues. When i plug the HDMI into the back of the HP Pavillion the computer makes the sound of a device being connected, the desktop screen reacts to the plug in, but no response on the other screen. The drivers appear to be up to date, and under device manager and settings/monitor it shows the monitor (HP32F).  I have tried downloading some tools from HP to run test but no luck. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi @JMC6976,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've done a thorough job troubleshooting the issue with your second monitor not receiving a signal from your HP Pavilion all-in-one PC. Here are some additional steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:

1. Check Display Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings" from the context menu.
  • Make sure that the second monitor is detected and recognized in the display settings.
  • Try changing the display mode (e.g., extend, duplicate, second screen only) to see if that resolves the issue.

2. Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Go to the HP support website and download/install the latest graphics drivers for your HP Pavilion all-in-one PC.
  • Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can sometimes cause display issues.

3. Check HDMI Port Settings:

  • Access the BIOS/UEFI settings of your HP Pavilion PC and check if there are any options related to HDMI port settings.
  • Ensure that the HDMI ports are enabled and configured correctly in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

4. Try Different HDMI Port:

  • If your HP Pavilion all-in-one PC has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the second monitor to a different HDMI port to see if that makes a difference.

5. Reset Monitor Settings:

  • On the HP32F monitor, access the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu using the buttons on the monitor.
  • Look for an option to reset the monitor settings to factory defaults.
  • Resetting the monitor settings may help resolve any configuration issues.

6. Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware:

  • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI firmware updates available for your HP Pavilion all-in-one PC.
  • Visit the HP support website and download/install any available firmware updates following the provided instructions.

7. Try Another Cable/Adapter:

  • If possible, try using a different HDMI cable or HDMI-to-DVI adapter to connect the second monitor to your HP Pavilion PC.
  • Sometimes, cables or adapters can become faulty over time and cause connectivity issues.

8. Perform System Restore (Optional):

  • If the issue started after a recent software update or change, you can try performing a system restore to revert your PC to a previous state when the second monitor was working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
