- Simple 4K Graphics Card For Pavilion H8-1070t

My computer - HP Pavilion Desktop H8-1070t, Intel Core i7
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date AMI 7.05, 5/18/2011
SMBIOS Version 2.6
Embedded Controller Version 255.255
BIOS Mode UEFI
BaseBoard Manufacturer PEGATRON CORPORATION
BaseBoard Product 2AB5
BaseBoard Version 1.01
I'm simply wanting to go to a 4K screen resolution. No need for gaming capability. I just browse, do email, watch occasional videos. Low end stuff. The original Radeon card maxes out at 1920 x 1080.
I understand there are compatibility issues between this PC and various graphics cards. Rather than buying and trying, would like to know if anyone has a known simple 4K resolution solution. Any one know of one? Hopefully around $100.
I tried to install a Gigabyte GT730 GV-N730D3-2GI NVIDIA GT730/REV 3.0 PCI-E 2.0 x8/2GB DDR3/64 D-SUB/Dual-Link DVI-/HDMI. https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N730D3-2GI-rev-30#ov
Computer would not boot. Gigabyte support was not that helpful. I am trying to upgrade the BIOS/UEFI as I know it is old, but HP support site is down. Will go that route as soon as the site is up. Sort of doubt that will fix it, but worth a try. I know I should be looking at a more modern computer, but not really ready to do that at the moment. Not the right time in my life.
Thank you in advance for your help!

That PC will not have a BIOS update available for the newer graphics cards IE: NVIDIA GT730 or GT1050.
However there is a possible solution with NVIDIA GT 630 where it can do 3840 x 2160 which is technically considered 4K

That PC is too old to do any better than that series NVIDIA cards.

hi
sorry but BIOS Version/Date AMI 7.05, 5/18/2011
SMBIOS Version 2.6
In theory only old graphics cards
AMD Radeon HD 6xxx cards, or a Nvidia GT (X) 6xx card
can be used
on condition of having the required power supply for the chosen model
it's probably not a site problem, down, but end of support for this model
if the bios is in uefi mode, see this
is your power supply sufficient?

TheOldMan - Thank you for the suggestion of the NVIDIA GT 630. I will look into seeing what's available at an affordable price. It may turn out to be a solution, but I will have to try it to know. I'm not really sure if it's the NVIDIA chip alone, or the other interfacing hardware and firmware around it designed by the various card designers which will determine it's compatibility with my, yes old, computer. I'll select something. Keep my fingers crossed, and hope. Once I try it, I'll report back.
Thanks again!

The reason I suggested the NVIDIA GT 630 ( it is known to work ) is because of more than one criteria - along with the BIOS not accepting the newer/higher graphics cards, the power supply must be considered, as it will not support a higher card even from the NVIDIA GT 6** line. There may be a AMD Radeon that will work but I did not check any of those.

Prométhée, Thank you, but I'm not certain what it was that I was supposed to get from the page at the link you supplied. It shows a lot of NVIDIA GPUs, but I'm not seeing where it could inform me which would be compatible with my computer. Maybe I'm missing something.

TheOldMan, Yes, I see that the GT 630 is capable of 3840x2160. However, the cards I'm finding which use the GT 630 are claiming their max resolution of only 2560x1600. They're doing something which does not utilize all of the GPU's native capability. Below is an example. Do you know of cards with the GT 630 which do provide the 3840x2160 resolution? If so, i would like the mnfg and model number. It may be no longer manufactured, but it may be available as a used card somewhere, like eBay, which I have to resort to from time to time.

Prométhée,
My BIOS UEFI is version 7.05, not version 8, so I would not have the Secure Boot problem with version 8 mentioned in the first article. Also, the GV-N660OC-2GD in the last article requires changing to legacy boot rather than leaving it in UEFI mode. I'm not really interested in making that big a change to the system. I might be stuck here without a solution. Thank you for your time.
