HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000 (1F4E1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The Speaker Mute button still works as in the Laptop mutes, but the light does not change. The microphone mute brings up a pop up which shows the mic muted but never unmutes, and the camera toggle button does nothing.

Hi @MattyLake,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the toggles for the speaker, microphone, and camera on your HP ENVY Laptop 13. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve these issues.

Restart Your Laptop

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can fix temporary glitches.

Update or Reinstall Drivers

Speaker and Microphone:

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click Start button > Device Manager).
  • Find "Sound, video and game controllers" and "Audio inputs and outputs".
  • Right-click on your audio devices and choose "Update driver". Follow the prompts.
  • If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the drivers and then restarting your laptop to reinstall them automatically.

Camera:

  • In Device Manager, find "Imaging Devices".
  • Right-click on the camera and choose "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" and restart your laptop to reinstall it.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.

Check HP Support Assistant

  • HP Support Assistant can help you identify and fix hardware issues. Open HP Support Assistant and look for updates or troubleshooting options for your hardware components.

Check Hardware Settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and ensure that apps are allowed to use the camera.
  • For the microphone, go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and make sure apps are allowed to use the microphone.

BIOS Update

  • Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP website. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.

Run HP Diagnostics

  • HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to enter the HP Diagnostics or HP Support Assistant, and run the hardware diagnostics to check for issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
