I am trying to add another monitor to my system to help with doing coding. I have the HDMI as main, but I am trying to get the DVI port to work, and I am using an adapter to go from DVI to VGA for my HP E243 Monitor, it only has a VGA and HDMI port with another port next to HDMI on back side with power cord, and two USB ports on the side. Any info would greatly help.

You would probably have better luck by using a DVI to HDMI adapter as the VGA is analog so the DVI to VGA adapter needs to be an active adapter while the DVI to HDMI is digital to digital.
There are other methods that should work but that is the easiest.
