HP 32f Display

Knowing that most of my configuration issue will need to be addressed at Dell, I still have a questions regarding the HDMI connection ports and the display settings on my 32' HP display.  I'm trying to use my HP 32' as a secondary monitor to my Dell Inspiron 3475 (all in one). When I go to detect a secondary monitor, it says it doesn't detect one.  I am going from HDMI to the HDMI #1 port of my HP display.  QUESTION: Does it make a difference which HDMI port I use when trying to do this, and do I need to adjust the setting of the display to make it work as a 2nd monitor.  Right now, it only mirrors what is shown on the Dell screen.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It is not detected but it appears to be working?

On the Dell with Window 10/11 hold down the windows key and press the p key at the same time
