Do not see a reset switch as you describe.  You say" three blinks is memory for HP".  Do you mean to tell me that three blinks says something is wrong with the memory sticks?

Interesting, but I am working on a desktop p6500z.  There are no sounds emitted, just frustrating black screen, HD light blinks, I believe three time, then one time, then nothing.  Almost as if the HD were trying to boot, but never makes it.

Blink codes should be valid for desktops too. 

Have you changed the sata cables? A bad one gave me crazy issues one time.

Hmmmmmm......no, I have not thought about switching the SATA cable from the DVD to the HD to see what happens.  Good idea, will have to give that a try.
