About 30 minutes ago, my monitor's viewing mode box popped up and started scrolling though, non-stop.  I have checked connected, rebooted, etc.  Buttons on bottom of monitor are not fixing the issue either

It sounds like your monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display) menu is stuck in a loop, possibly due to a faulty button, firmware issue, or internal hardware problem. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot:

Perform a Power Reset 

  1. Turn off the monitor.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the monitor and disconnect all input cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.).
  3. Hold down the power button on the monitor for 30 seconds.
  4. Plug everything back in and turn the monitor on.

Check for Stuck Buttons

  • If your monitor has physical buttons, one might be stuck.
  • Press each button several times to see if any feel jammed.
  • If you find a stuck button, gently wiggle it or use compressed air to remove dust.

Try a Different Input Source

  • If the issue persists, disconnect your PC/laptop and connect the monitor to a different device.
  • If the problem continues even with a new device, it's likely a monitor issue rather than a PC issue.

Update Monitor Firmware (If Applicable)

  • Some monitors allow firmware updates via USB or a connected PC.
  • Visit HP’s support website and check if there's a firmware update for your monitor model.

Factory Reset the Monitor

  • If you can access the OSD menu, look for a Factory Reset option under "Settings" or "System".
  • If the menu is uncontrollable, skip to the next step.

Test with a Different Power Outlet & Cable

  • Try a different power cable and outlet in case of a power fluctuation issue.
