HP Omen 27i
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased the Omen 27i monitor for 1440p 120hz gaming. When playing the new Call of Duty, I experience this affect on my screen when I look around. It seems to be like an over saturation of the pixels, and it almost like it distorts them. This happens on both my newly built PC, and the Xbox Series X. After searching online I’ve found nothing on the issue.

Later, I come to find that it seems to have something to do with the HP

Enhance feature in the monitor settings. It seemed to only do that when that setting was toggled on...up until recently. I usually keep it on “gaming” or “standard”, but now it’s doing the same thing. Forcing me to play on some of the other color options, like  “cool”.

Has anybody experienced this issue? Anything helps.

@Brybry

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the display when gaming.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Does this happen only in one game?

Have you checked the video settings in the game?

Meanwhile, I recommend you download and install the monitor driver from the below link and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, then update the graphics driver on your computer and test.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Have no gotten a chance to install that driver, but I’ve come to find it happens when the “Dynamic Sync” feature is on. It seems to happen on games that have a good amount of realistic detail. I’ve turned off the setting and it looks fine on all the modes.

Is that something the monitor driver would fix? I’m fairly new to the PC world, and all my hardware drivers are currently up to date. It’s not detrimental to have that feature on, but obviously I wouldn’t mind taking advantage of that option.

Unfortunately that did not fix the issue. I'm not quite sure how to describe it to you. As the picture I have is too large of a file size to upload in a post.

But its like a "ghosting" like effect, and I'm not familiar if there is a term for it, but it also distorts a lot of smaller textures and over saturates the pixels. I have only had this happen when I am playing the latest Call of Duty, and briefly on Gears of War 5.

It also happens when "Adaptive Sync" is on, HP Enhance, Gaming, and Standard picture modes. The issue is longer present when Adaptive Sync is turned off. All is well in those modes, and with the current or higher graphic settings.

I tried to take a screenshot on my computer, but it came out clear. And given the firmware update did not work, that leads me to believe it may be a defective unit? I am open to any additional troubleshooting tips you may have, and I really appreciate the assistance.

Did you ever figure this out? From your description I think I have the same issue.

Makes read dead redemption 2 unplayable and notice it a bit playing avengers but not as bad.

Unfortunately have not gotten a chance to go through CS. The only fix that works as of yet is keeping the picture mode on Standard and keeping adaptive Sync off. Will update if I ever finder a true resolution.

Ok,

I may try and to contact them myself also. It's the same issue I'm pretty sure. It does look much better with the adaptive sync off also.

Something I do find interesting. When I turn off adaptive sync it still says "adaptive sync" as the display mode in the information tab of the on screen menu for the monitor. I feel like it definitely turns it off though as the option to set up G-sync in the NVidia control panel disappears when off and comes back when it's turned on.

So I think I may have discovered something..................

I have been using my computer with the adaptive sync off. I shut it down completely and turned of the monitor. After a few minutes started everything back up. Turned on the adaptive sync and shut everything down again including the monitor. Restarted everything back up.

After doing this it seems to be working MUCH better with the adaptive sync on. The frame rate (per the monitor display) is way more consistent and none of the weirdness.
