When I try to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade on my (Lenovo) PC, I get an eror message that says my HP Pavilion w2408h Monitor driver is not compatible with Windows 10. But I have the most up-to-date driver, and I've had Windows 10 on this system for a year (only the newst Upgrade seems to be a problem). Is HP aware of this issue? Will there be a new driver? The monitor is wonderful, and I'd hate to give it up over something like this.

Hi:
You can always make the W10 installation DVD (use the media creation tool below), and autorun it from the windows desktop.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Skip the check for updates, and W10 should bypass the hardware checks and install.
Then just reinstall the latest driver HP has for your monitor from the support page.
That is normally the way to get past any device that is blocking W10 from installing.
Can't absolutely guarantee that the hardware will work, but usually it will.

@Ed_in_LA, welcome to the forum.
Since your monitor is older, it is very unlikely that HP will provide Win 10 software and driver for it. The reason for this is, Win 10 has many drivers built-in to it. However, this doesn't help you since Win 10 won't install without an updated driver.

Thanks. That would make sense if I'd never been able to use the monitor with Windows 10 at all. But I've been doing that for a year now. The error message appeared only when I tried to install the latest Windows update, but it says I can't use the monitor with Win 10 at all and not just with this upgrade.

You are welcome, @Ed_in_LA. Win 10 Anniversary Update is not simply a small driver or software update, it has basically changed Win 10 as we knew it. It could have been labled Win 11.

Wouldn't the W10 installation DVD just give me a non-upgraded version of W10? That's what I'm already running. And the Microsoft page you linked to says the installation DVD is for systems that don't have W10 already, not for those that do.

That should be the latest build on there now according to this...
When you autorun it should allow you to upgrade without the key. Skip the download and install updates and click 'not right now.'
When you clean install, you are given the option of entering a product key (which you don't have), or and an I do not have a product key selection, which is the one you want if you already previously upgraded to W10.
And this is what you use the DVD for which is also listed on the website...
- You bought Windows 10 and are upgrading this PC from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
- You need to reinstall Windows 10 on a PC you’ve already successfully activated Windows 10.
