Z620, RTX 2070, Quadro FX 580
Microsoft Windows Server 2012

HI,  I have installed the new purchase RTX 2070 and it has been working fine. I decided to use this GPU for GPGPU/CUDA purpose solely hence I put back the old Quadro FX 580 and plan to use this for display. I have setup this FX 580 as primary source under the VGA configuration.

However, the z620 keep saying it has problem, auto repair, reboot, and the entire cycle repeat again and again. I have no idea how to solve this problem. Any help or advise is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi KahF,

This issue is down to the fact that Quadro and GTX cards do not play well together when installed on the same machine. Specifically, the Quadro card requires a Quadro driver and the GTX card requires a GTX driver which, as a general rule, cannot be installed on the same machine.

Typically, 1 or more GTX cards can be installed in the same computer without any issues. SImilarly, Quadro and GPU compute cards (e.g.Tesla C2075, etc.)  can be installed together on the same computer without any issues. The GTX cards are not the same as GPU compute cards.

I do have a Quadro P2000 and GTX 1080 Ti card installed in my Z620 which I believe is possible in this case since they are both Pascal based cards.

For more info I would recommend you have a read of my previous post;

Hi Brian, Thank you for your reply and sharing. It is useful knowledge. I think the problem could be due to the Windows Server 2012 R2. I may want to try using Windows 10 when I have time.

I have actually successfully boot up with both GPU, but I think there is something on the background (after boot up and in Windows) that causing the problem.

Anyway, good to know you have successfully install both Quadro and GTX.

Thanks
